Habersham offense feasts on Apalachee in both teams' finale

MT. AIRY — The Habersham Central football program finished out its most successful season since 2011 with a 49-21 win over Apalachee on Friday in Mt. Airy.

The Raiders (5-5, 1-4 Region 8-AAAAAA) were led by senior quarterback Cole Wilbanks, who thrived in his final game with the program, completing 20 of 28 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns. Fellow senior Trey Hurt proved his top target, catchig six passes for 139 yards and three scores.

Meanwhile, Habersham senior back Michael Babers rushed for 61 yards and a two scores. Aaron Galloway, also a senior, added 47 yards rushing and a score.

Senior linebacker Jake Jones paced the defense with two interceptions.

The Raiders bettered the win total from the last four seasons combined in 2016 -- their second under coach Benji Harrison.

The Wildcats (2-7-1, 0-5) also doubled their win total from the last three seasons combined.

Both teams' seasons are complete.
