Wildcats win 8-AA title with rout of Oglethorpe County

TIGER — Rabun County held Oglethorpe County to just 63 total yards en route to a 58-0 win over the Patriots in Region 8-AA action.

The win for the Wildcats (8-0, 5-0 Region 8-AA) officially clinched the region title. They will close out the regular season next week traveling to Monticello.

While the defense was stuffing the Oglethorpe offense, the Rabun County offense jumped on the Patriots early and often. Quarterback Bailey Fisher connected with Austin Jones on a pair of touchdown passes win under a 2-minute span for a quick 14-0 lead just four minutes into the game.

The Patriots went three-and-out on their first six possessions.

Cal Drummond added a 6-yard touchdown run and then Fisher hooked up with Noah Cannon for a 7-yard TD pass for a 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Fisher scored on a 16 yard less than two minutes into the second quarter. Dillyn Nichols caught a 9-yard pass from Fisher midway through the second quarter as Rabun County took a 42-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Brison Beck, and Andrew Barnes each had scoring runs.

Fisher was an efficient 10-of-12 passing for 137 yards and the 4 TDs and added 41 yards rushing and another score. Nine different receivers caught passes.Drummond finished with 90 yards on 8 carries for the Wildcats.
