FLOWERY BRANCH — Loganville used a pair of touchdowns in the final 56 seconds of the second quarter to blow open a close game en route to a 42-0 win over Flowery Branch Friday night in Region 8-AAAAA action.
The Red Devils (6-1, 3-0 Region 8-AAAAA) led just 7-0 heading into the final minute of the first half when Darryl Giles scored his second touchdown of the half on a 15-yard run for a 14-0 lead. Loganville then got an interception return for a touchdown from Matthew Pettit two plays later for a 21-0 lead.
Flowery Branch (3-5, 2-2) never recovered. Loganville put the game away in a two minute span in the third quarter when Shy Kim caught touchdown passes of 40- and 33-yards and Derrius Hart finished the scoring with a 24-yard touchdown run with 41 seconds left in the third quarter for a 42-0 lead.
The Falcons, who have lost two straight, were held to just 125 total yards of offense. Nick Lance was 8-of- 26 for 84 yards. Malik Drayon had six catches for 75 yards.
Giles finished with 207 yards rushing to pace the Red Devils, who have won five straight.
