Vote on controversial Browns Bridge Road rezoning request set for tonight

By AccessWDUN Staff
Opponents of a rezoning request for Mincey Marble on Browns Bridge Road in west Hall County say they now have more than 700 signatures on a petition against the plan.

Mincey wants to relocate part of its operation to a site directly across from its headquarters building.

Opponents said they will show up in full force for Thursday night's Hall County Commission voting session, where a final decision on the request is to be made.

Mincey officials have argued they employ 300 Hall County residents and have been strong contributors to the local economy since 1977.

A vote on the request has been tabled twice; commissioners expressed at a prior meeting that they want a decision made at the October 13 voting session.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Hall County Government Center.
