BOGART — Commerce battled Prince Avenue to a near standstill on Friday night -- but the Tigers could not hold out on one last drive, as the Wolverines plunged into the end zone from one yard out to seal a 21-14 victory in Bogart.
Cole Chancey did his best to help Commerce respond from last week's tough defeat to Athens Christian, scoring both Tigers touchdowns -- including a 13-yard run in the third quarter that put the visitors in front 14-7 after Chancey also converted a 2-point run.
The fourth quarter proved a defensive slugfest, but the Wolverines got the ball back with just enough time left to fashion a game-winning drive, scoring with just 10 seconds remaining to send the Tigers (3-2, 2-2 Region 8-A) to a second straight loss.
Chancey finished with 124 yards on 34 carries, as Commerce put up 159 yards rushing.
Prince Avenue put up 289 total yards, including 182 through the air. The Wolverines scored touchdowns on a 72-yard pass and a 16-yard pass to take a 14-6 lead.
Commerce will play host to Providence Christian next week.
