Forsyth County switches ambulance providers

A new emergency medical services provider will take over the job in Forsyth County starting 9 a.m. Thursday.

Central Emergency Medical Services, LLC. will replace Advanced Ambulance Service Inc. with no interruption in service, according to a release from Forsyth County officials.

The change in providers comes as a result of the assignment of the existing contract with the county’s current provider to Central EMS, the release said. The assignment was approved by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners at a special called meeting January 13.

“Ensuring that our citizens receive quality public safety and emergency medical services is without question the highest priority for Forsyth County government,” said Commission Chairman Pete Amos in the release. “Our residents are, and will continue to be, protected. Please be assured that there will be absolutely no interruption to emergency medical services in Forsyth County.”

Central will provide seven staffed ambulances, the same number as Advanced Ambulance provided, located throughout the county, officials said in the statement.

Advanced Ambulance provided the service for the county since 2008.
