SUWANEE — Mill Creek pulled away to notch its first ever win over North Gwinnett, 28-0, on Friday in Suwanee.
The Hawks struggled to find the end zone at times -- but with the way the Hawks (5-0, 2-0 Region 7-AAAAAA) defense played, it didn't matter.
North Gwinnett (2-3, 0-2) managed just 98 total yards and were shut out for the first time since 2009. Mill Creek also picked off three Bulldogs passes, as Aaron Anderson, Jonathan Gipson and Sidney Otiwu all snagged interceptions.
Daniel Leconte paced the Hawks offense, rushing 20 times for 125 yards and three scores -- including a 51-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. The long run gave the visitors some breathing room after leading just 7-0 at the half.
Cameron Turley (10 of 21 passing for 110 yards) also connected with Miles Riley for a 19-yard touchdown pass.
Mill Creek will play host to Meadowcreek next week.
