Piedmont women's soccer shuts out William Peace 2-0 to stay undefeated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Piedmont College women's soccer team picked up a goal in each half of Friday's 2-0 win over William Peace University in the team's third USA South game of the year.

With the win, Piedmont stays perfect both in USA South play at 3-0 and overall at now 8-0 improving on the program's best start to a season in the NCAA Era.

Sarah Weber scored in the 26th minute to give Piedmont the advantage with Cassidy Reich getting the assist on the goal. The freshman duo combined for the score on Piedmont's 6th shot of the first half as the Lady Lions dominated the run of play with more than 20 shots to just one for the Pacers.

In the second half, PC picked up the pressure holding the Pacers in their own half for much of the final 45 minutes. Piedmont picked up its second goal when Jazmin Penado headed a William Peace goal kick back past the Pacers' back four with Reich running onto the ball and finishing for her conference-leading 8th goal of the season and a 2-0 win.
