AUGUSTA — University of North Georgia senior Mallory Sayre has been named the Peach Belt Conference AstroTurf Goalkeeper of the Week the league office announced Monday. Sayre is the only goalie in the PBC with more than one start to allow one or less goals this season.
The Snellville native recorded her 20th career shutout in Sunday's game against Queens (N.C.), extending her school record. Sayre has collected three shutouts already this season with the only goal she has allowed coming against Lees-McRae last Tuesday.
Sayre was named PBC Goalkeeper of the Week three times last season.
North Georgia, which was ranked 11th in last week's NSCAA Division II Top 25 poll, will return to action this Saturday travel over Blood Mountain to take on rival Young Harris. Kickoff for that match is set for 5 p.m.
