University of North Georgia men's soccer defender Daniel Bowlt was named to the Peach Belt Conference preseason All-Conference team the league office announced Thursday. Eleven players representing seven different PBC schools were named to the team, which was selected by the league's head coaches. Young Harris, USC Aiken, Clayton State and Flagler had two players each named to the squad while Montevallo, Francis Marion and North Georgia had one each.
Bowlt returns for his senior season in Dahlonega as the leader of the Nighthawk defense. The Newcastle, England native was a 2013 All-Conference selection and scored two goals with two assists last season while starting 17 games. Both of Bowlt's goals last season came against conference opponents including a strike in UNG's 4-3 win over USC Aiken.
The All-Conference defender will lead a rejuvenated squad featuring 14 newcomers that will look to build upon last year's appearance in the Peach Belt Tournament.
The Nighthawks will open up their season in the Sunshine State with road games at Barry (Sept. 3) and Palm Beach Atlantic (Sept. 5). North Georgia's home opener will come on Sept. 10 as Tampa travels to the Gold City for a 6 p.m., kickoff.
