By AccessWDUN staff
GAINESVILLE - Elachee Nature Science Center has again completed a rigorous self-study and provided evidence of our student performance and stakeholder engagement and satisfaction during a spring visit by an appointed professional review team. The team recommended to the AdvancED Accreditation Commission that Elachee earn the distinction of accreditation for an additional five-year term.

This is the fifth time Elachee has bee re-accredited.

It is the only SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) and AdvancED accredited nature center in the southeast,

Developed more than 100 years ago by American universities and secondary schools. the accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance designed primarily to distinguish schools adhering to a set of educational standards. Today the accreditation process is used at all levels of education and is recognized for its ability to effectively drive student performance and continuous improvement in education.

The visiting review team assessed Elachee in the areas of Teaching and Learning, Using Results for Continuous Improvement, Leadership Capacity Purpose and Direction, Governance and Leadership, and Resource Utilization. The team lauded Elachee's commitment to continuous improvement, improved student performance, and the strength of the staff, board and community stakeholder leadership. Recommendations included development of a comprehensive technology plan and expanding the executive summary describing Elachee’s history and position in the community.

The programs that are the primary focus of the accreditation process are outlined in Elachee's 2015-2016 School Program Guide: http://www.elachee.org/ElacheeEducationProgramGuide.pdf
