TIGER—Authorities have released more details in the case involving a murder suspect who was caught in Rabun County on Thursday.
The Rabun County Sheriff's Office got a tip from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations on Thursday to be on the lookout for a white Mercedes that could be connected to a homicide in Madison County, North Carolina.
That's according to a press release from the sheriff's office.
Deputies were asked to check the area of Carson Lane off Creek Road near Tiger around 2:00 p.m. for the vehicle.
They spotted the Mercedes and attempted to follow it; deputies were able to confirm the tag information in the process. It belonged to Nancy Cherie Hogan, one of the people of interest from the North Carolina case, along with her son, Brandon Thomas Hogan.
By 4:00 p.m. authorities had murder warrants for the pair, which were faxed from North Carolina.
The Georgia State Patrol helped set up a perimeter around the house the two had gone into, and then police called the house.
Nancy answered.
Deputies told her she was surrounded, and asked her to surrender, which she did without incident. They then searched the home looking for Brandon, but couldn't find him.
From there, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation took over the scene.
Brandon returned to house around 1:00 a.m. Friday, with law enforcement still on the scene; he was arrested without incident.
Brandon was wanted on warrants out of Habersham County as well, facing charges of failure to appear on felony child molestation charges.
