DAHLONEGA — Due to continued enrollment demand, the University of North Georgia (UNG) has extended the admissions deadline for fall semester to July 31 for UNG's Gainesville and Cumming campuses. The original deadline was July 1.
"UNG continues to experience unprecedented growth, and we have met the university's anticipated capacity for this fall. However, in response to this continued demand and to serve the students in our region, we are adding faculty and limited core courses and have extended the application deadline for fall semester for these campuses," said President Bonita C. Jacobs. "Ensuring access to higher education for the students of our region is an essential part of our mission."
Students must apply and submit all supporting documents by the July 31 deadline. Application information may be found online at www.ung.edu/admissions or by calling 678-717-3641. Fall semester begins August 17.
With more than 16,000 students and campuses in Cumming, Dahlonega, Gainesville, and Oconee County, UNG is one of the state's largest public universities.
In August, UNG will open its fifth campus in Blue Ridge, Georgia. UNG began offering dual enrollment opportunities to high school students in Fannin, Union and Towns counties. The new campus will be located at 83 Dunbarton Farm Road, and work is underway to get the space ready for students.
"Blue Ridge provides an opportunity to create a unique campus that serves a broad spectrum of students and meets regional needs," Jacobs said. "There will be a strong consideration of the needs of first-generation students, as well as high-achieving high school and college students, former students who have stopped out, and working professionals."
