MURRAYVILLE — A worker has died after an apparent Tuesday morning accident at Fieldale Farms on Thompson Bridge Road in northern Hall County.
Hall County Deputy Fire Chief Chad Black confirmed crews responded to the plant and transported a patient to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. The patient, 31-year-old Ricardo Aburto, was pronounced dead a short time later, according to Black.
He said emergency crews were told Aburto was performing some type of electrical work just before he collapsed.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office and OSHA are investigating the matter as a suspcious death, according to Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes. She said an autopsy was performed on Aburto, but those results are not yet available. Early indications were that the man was electrocuted, but Bailes said the cause of death has not been confirmed.
Bailes said Aburto was a maintenence employee at Fieldale and lived in Gainesville.
