HOMER - Two Winder women already on parole now face a list of new felony charges in Banks County.
According to Sgt. Carissa McFaddin of the Banks County Sheriff's Office, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Faulkner Road, but the driver failed to yield. A pursuit ensued and the driver of the vehicle lost control and struck a power pole at the interesection of Carson Segars Road and Georgia Highway 323.
The female passenger, Amanda Susan Garmon of Winder, was detained at the scene of the crash. The driver fled on foot.
Garmon told deputies the driver was a female and described her clothes, McFaddin said.
"K-9 units were on scene and began attempting to track the driver," McFaddin said. "The Georgia State Patrol Air Unit was requested to the scene to assist. Lee Arendale’s K-9 Unit was also requested to the scene to relieve the Banks County K-9 due to exhaustion.
"Several hours of K-9 tracking led to the discovery of the driver, Tiffany Ann Wheeler of Winder," McFaddin said. "Wheeler denied being the driver and insisted a male was driving the vehicle. An investigation confirmed that Wheeler was the driver of the vehicle with Garmon as her passenger."
Garmon and Wheeler are currently on parole and were facing outstanding warrants in Barrow County. Both are being held at the Banks County Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Center in Homer.
Wheeler is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule II drug; possession of Schedule V drug, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, driving while license suspended, illegal stopping on the roadway, and failure to stop at stop sign.
