Fund set up for woman injured in Browns Bridge Rd. wreck 2 weeks ago

GAINESVILLE - A fund has been established to help a Gainesville woman with medical and other expenses growing out of a serious traffic accident two weeks ago.

Cory Buckley was critically injured when the car she was in was hit by an alleged drunk driver May 24 on Browns Bridge Road just west of Gainesville.

Her husband, Warren, suffered less serious injuries but she remains hospitalized in intensive care with numerous broken bones and other injuries, according to a friend of hers, Susan Brown, who established the fund.

Brown says that with the permission of Buckley's children, she established the Cory Buckley Recovery Trust at United Community Bank.  Checks can be made payable to the Cory Buckley Recovery Trust, 204 Green Street NE, Gainesville, Georgia  30501..   There is also a GoFundMe Account,   http://www.gofundme.com/v4csdbc

"The trust has been established to provide for medical care, support and comfort," Brown said.  "There are basic short terms needs, like just paying the bills.   There may be some renovation needed once she moves home.  But the biggest concern is that Cory will require substantial therapy once all of her injuries are healed, and will have tremendous medical expenses.  The goal is to help fill in the gaps of nursing care, therapy and equipment that insurance doesn’t cover."

Buckley is a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) supervisor, representing children's interests in Juvenile Court.

"She is a relentless advocate for children and many of the comments on her Go Fund Me account reflect the love and respect of community members and those whose lives she has touched," Brown added.
