BLUE RIDGE -- The Fannin County baseball team stayed alive in the Region 7-AAA playoff race and dealt West Hall a serious blow to its playoff chances with a 3-2 win Tuesday at home.

The Rebels (9-11, 5-10 Region 7-AAA) rallied from a 2-1 deficit with single runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings. In the seventh, Garrett Rogers was hit by a pitch to open the seventh and came around to score the winning on a one-out single Jacob Reece.

Fannin County tied the game in the sixth when Reece doubled to lead off the inning and later scored.

The Rebels took a 1-0 in the third when Rogers scored on a Hunter Rice single. West Hall (7-13, 5-10) tied the game in the fourth and took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth.

West Hall had no answer for starter Will Shirah, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Shirah yielded just one hit and walked four while striking out seven in five innings of work.

Jusdon Hawkins got the win in relief for Fannin County pitching the final two innings allowing just one run.

The win moved Fannin County into a tie with West Hall for fifth place just one-half game behind Dawson County (7-14, 5-9) which was idle on Tuesday.

West Hall will play host to Lumpkin County on Wednesday and the Rebels will play host to Dawson County on Wednesday.
