CUMMING - A road was closed in the south end of Forsyth County Monday afternoon while authorities rescued one injured person from inside an overturned garbage truck.
According to the Forsyth County Fire Department, Castleberry Road was closed at Atlanta Highway, or GA 9, around 2:30 p.m., and reopened just before 4:30 p.m.
Fire Chief Jason Shivers said a heavy duty garbage truck had overturned on the driver's side. Shivers said the driver was the only occupant and was entrapped in the vehicle.
"His extent of injuries were not that bad considering the incident, it could have been much worse," said Shivers. "He was alert, oriented and was fairly stable but had the typical abrasions and semi-loss of consciousness that you might expect from a wreck like that."
The driver was extricated, Shiver said they were able to remove him within 15 minutes. Shivers said the driver was taken to North Fulton Hospital by EM .
Shivers also said everything in the garbage truck was contained.
The road was reopened just before 4:30 p.m.
