NORCROSS, Ga. (AP) Gwinnett County fire officials say a stretch of Buford Highway in Norcross has reopened after it was closed because of a suspected gas leak.
Fire officials said in a statement Thursday afternoon that county officials reported a fuel-like odor wafting from a sewer manhole on Buford Highway near Langford Road. Officials say a hazardous materials crew found high concentrations of gasoline vapors in front of a nearby gas station but it's unclear where the vapors were coming from.
Fire officials say a private company has been contracted to perform a dye test to determine whether the problem may be linked to underground fuel storage or piping.
Fire officials say the Georgia Environmental Protection Division is investigating.
