By AccessWDUN Staff

SEWANEE, Tenn. — In a rematch with Sewanee, Piedmont used a season-best shooting performance to take an 84-72 victory to split the season series. The Lions shot 56 percent from the floor and hit 11 3-pointers going 58 percent from beyond the arc.

Both those percentages are season-bests and the best 3-point percentage since January 26, 2014 in a 108-90 win against Averett, while it marks the best percentage from the floor since Feb. 11, 2015 against Covenant. The 11 3-pointers made are the most since December 6, 2012 when the team hit 11 against Warren Wilson.

Piedmont led by as many as 12 in the final minutes of the first half but took a 41-32 lead into the break. The Lions maintained a double-digit lead through most of the second half and stretched the lead to as many as 15 points.

Chase England led all scorers with 19 points as Piedmont had three scorers in double figures with Trae Gaines scoring 17 and Kelly Assinesi notching 10 points. Gaines has posted three straight double-figure games as he had a season-high 21 points against Berry in the previous contest.

The Lions snapped Sewanee's 13-game home win streak and Piedmont handed them their last loss on the home court in November of 2014.
