GAINESVILLE — Gainesville High claimed bragging rights in its home county on Friday, as the Red Elephants pinned down the Hall County Duals title at Chestatee High in Gainesville.
The Red Elephants are in the midst of a stellar season so far and only added to that over the course of the two-day tournament, as they went 6-0 to beat out defending champs North Hall for the title.

“We knew there were a couple of things that had to go our way, some key matches. We’ve got some older guys, but we’ve got a lot of young guys. The younger guys really came through today. They really set the pace for what we wanted to do as a team," said Gainesville coach Shane Millwood, in his first season with the Red Elephants after coming from Flowery Branch. "It’s a building block. It’s something we look forward to every year. It’s something that Gainesville used to take pride in winning Hall County, being my first year here, I’m glad we’ve got that success, and it’s something to build on now."
