BUFORD - In keeping with the “Season of Giving,” a Southern lakeside resort is paying it forward to three communities that give so much to Georgia and the nation all year-round – Law Enforcement, Fire Services and the United States Armed Forces. With the return of its legendary Magical Nights of Lights animated holiday light driving tour and premier of the ALL NEW Winter Adventure attraction at LanierWorld on November 27, Lanier Islands is honored to extend free admission to members of law enforcement and fire services, as well as both active duty and retired members of the U.S. military. At no charge all season long, these courageous men and women can enjoy the following attractions and so much more:
A six-mile drive through holiday lights
Hours of fun spent playing in the snow
A few dizzying spins around the new Bubble Rink
Endless entertainment on the huge new Spectacular Screen
An opportunity to be among the first to bounce their way through an exciting game of Knockerball
The chance to show off their bravery on a series of speed slides and zip lines
“We often forget to thank those who deserve our gratitude the most,” explained Virgil R. Williams, Chairman of the Board for Lanier Islands. “The Williams Family and the entire staff at Lanier Islands would like to say ‘thank you’ in the best way we know how. Earlier this summer, we issued a ‘salute to the troops’ with free admission to the beach, boardwalk and water park at our popular LanierWorld attraction for members of the military and law enforcement. The response was overwhelming, as law enforcement and military families came to the Islands to make special memories together. This holiday season, we’re proud to do the same for Magical Nights of Lights and Winter Adventure, and add firefighters to that list. As a matter of fact, on specified days, members of their families** will receive free admission to the Magical Nights of Lights, as well so they can share a beloved holiday tradition as our special guests.”
But the giving doesn’t stop there. Lanier Islands will play host to a number of events over the course of the holiday season that benefit local charities – and visitors can do their part to give back, as well. For starters, the resort is asking guests of Winter Adventure and Magical Nights of Lights to bring an unwrapped toy between opening day on November 27 through December 13 to benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Program. As thanks, guests who arrive with a toy donation on Tuesday, December 1, Thursday, December 3 and Thursday, December 10 will receive a special discount of 50% off their admission to Winter Adventure and Magical Nights of Lights. In addition, Happy Feat – a local nonprofit that is dedicated to bettering the lives of special needs citizens and the communities they support – has partnered with Lanier Islands to perform a Live Nativity on December 16 and 17. On those two nights, $1 from every Magical Nights of Lights ticket sold will be donated to Happy Feat. The resort will also be collecting non-perishable items from December 18-23 to help stock the shelves at the Georgia Mountain Food Bank. Last, but certainly not least, Lanier Islands will be accepting gently used clothing donations on behalf of Goodwill Industries. On December 14, each guest who brings a bag of clothing to donate will receive 50% off their admission to Magical Nights of Lights, and on January 18, each guest who brings a bag of clothing to donate will receive 50% off their admission to Winter Adventure.
