GAINESVILLE - A runoff election for a seat on the Gainesville City Council will be held Tuesday.
Barbara Brooks and Andre Cheek are seeking the post being vacated by longtime councilwoman Myrtle Figueras. Brooks is a retired social worker and Cheek works for the state Department of Juvenile Justice.
Brooks led a four-candidate field in the Nov. 3 election, getting 43.82 percent of the vote to Cheek's 27.79 percent.
Only registered voters living inside the Gainesville city limits are eligible to vote. City officials say voting will take place at polling places that are used for countywide elections.
