ATLANTA -  ACEC Georgia and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced the winners of the annual Georgia Partnership for Transportation Quality (GPTQ) Preconstruction Design Awards during the 2015 Georgia Transportation Summit Tuesday. The GPTQ Preconstruction Design Awards recognize engineering consultants and firms for exemplary work, innovation and ingenuity in transportation and infrastructure projects across the state of Georgia.

“I am especially proud of the GDOT team and their accomplishments in winning these awards,” said Georgia Department of Transportation Commissioner Russell McMurry, who presented the awards. “These design awards include prime examples of how partnerships and teamwork - whether within GDOT or through collaborations with the business community, coalitions and local governments - contribute to successful transportation endeavors.”

Marietta-based Heath & Lineback Engineers, Inc., took top honors as the Grand Award winner for its work on the first phase of the PATH400 project. PATH400 is a 5.2-mile walkable, bikeable greenway through the heart of Atlanta’s north side, connecting neighborhoods, office and retail locations. Effective collaboration between Livable Buckhead, PATH Foundation, the project designers and the construction team allowed for cost efficiencies and design innovations to be implemented throughout this first stage of the project.
