FLOWERY BRANCH — Cortez Davis was Mr. Big Play for Flowery Branch football this season.
And that again proved the case on Friday, as the senior racked up four catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 24.5 yards per catch.
The two scores so nearly pulled Flowery Branch into a tie for a postseason spot in region 8-AAAAA.
But while Gainesville responded to pull out an astounding 29-26 win in the game – a scoreline that kept the Falcons from a state berth Davis certainly made his presence felt.
For his efforts, Davis has been named the Locos Grill and Pub Friday Game Night Player of the Week.
Davis is hoping to continue his gridiron career on to the collegiate level – and he showed throughout his senior season just how deadly he can be, leading the Falcons in receiving, while scoring 10 total touchdowns for the Branch.
Friday Game Night editor Morgan Lee recently caught up with Davis to talk about his big night, his goals for the future and the upcoming crop of youngsters in the Branch football program. (Watch the video interview with Davis by clicking "play" above.)
