The summer of 2015 a member of the Cobb family contacted the museum and announced that they wished to make a donation of a number of artifacts from their collection of Ty Cobb’s baseball related awards and personal items. The museum has been working since the receipt of these items to integrate these items into its collection currently on display. “Among the artifacts are a number of loving cup trophies from the Detroit Tigers, adoring fans and Major League Baseball. Two trophies from his love of hunting with his bird dog “Cobb’s Hall”.
Our prize possession in this newly acquired collection is one of Ty Cobb’s baseball cleats that has been bronzed.
"The museum is very proud of this new collection and we are anxious to share it with our community,” said Julie Ridgway, Curator/ Director of Ty Cobb Museum.
