TOCCOA — Stephens County coach Frank Barden says his team still hasn't played to its potential season -- and yet the Indians are still undefeated and tied for first place in Region 8-AAAA.
Stephens maintained its spot atop 8-AAAA on Friday courtesy a 40-21 win over Chestatee in Toccoa.
"It was a big win; we hadn't really well all year, but we played pretty well in the second half last week (a 21-20 win over White County)," Barden said. "And I thought we kept that going this week. We played with emotion; and we have to do that.
"Last week was a team win, everyone played well, and we're trying to get better," Barden said. "We're a team that, hopefully is getting better each week and our best football is still in front of us."
The Indians (6-1, 4-0 Region 8-AAAA) play host to Madison County next week.
Chestatee (0-7, 0-4) will play host to White County next week.
