RABBITTOWN -- Lumpkin County pounded 472 yards on the ground and held off a late charge by east Hall to take a 38-35 Region 7-AAA win on the road Friday night.<br />

The Indians (2-3, 1-0 Region 7-AAA) got 188 yards and three touchdowns from Gunnar Wood and 173 yards and one score from Bradley Womack. But the key play came through the air.<br />

With the game tied at 21 late in the first half, Zach matthews connected with Zach Samples on a 7-yard TD pass and the Indians never trailed again. They would take that momentum and open up a 35-21 early in the second half.<br />

East Hall (1-3, 0-1) cut the lead to 35-28 but Lumpkin County pushed its lead to 38-28 on a 42-yard field goal from Noah Cromer that would prove to be the difference. The Vikings pulled within the final with 4:30 left in the game but the Indians would run out the clock to preserve the win.<br />

East Hall finished with 492 total yards, including 202 yards passing from Devin Watson in his first action in two weeks. Junior Lee had 109 yards receiving on five receptions. Watson also added 178 yards rushing.
