Brenau co-sponsors New York program for entrepreneurs

A special one-day program designed to provide top executives of fast-growth companies experience-based information from successful entrepreneurs, including Tumblr founder David Karp, will air live in a streaming Webcast from the New York TimesCenter on Friday. <br /> <br /> The program, jointly sponsored by Gainesville-based Brenau University and the Atlanta-based Oxford Center for Entrepreneurs, runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is available free of charge to remote viewers.<br /> <br /> The live stream can be found at http://new.livestream.com/accounts/9841499/events/3352021.<br /> <br /> Called "Get real: Real entrepreneurs. Real growth," the conference is hosted by Cliff Oxford, the founder of Oxford Center for Entrepreneurs, a blogger for The New York Times and a columnist for Forbes.com.<br /> <br /> In addition to Karp, the program also includes a panel headed by Brenau President Ed Schrader, whose focus on higher education provides a fresh perspective on skills and knowledge that entrepreneurs need for moving businesses to higher planes and surviving the pitfalls of fast growth.<br /> <br /> Other panel participants include Emmie Henderson Howard, a Brenau alumna and founder of Southern Proper, an Atlanta-company that develops and markets an upscale preppie clothing line designed around Southern themes; John Dobbertin, COO of Salt Lake City-based Helix Education, the 25-year-old technology-driven company that helps higher education institutions, including Brenau, to find, recruit, enroll, retain and teach students; Laura Zander, a former software engineer who started the online wool retailer Jimmy Beans Wool with her husband Doug in 2002 and in 2013 has done more than $7 million in sales.<br /> <br /> Additional panelists are:<br /> <br /> Bonner Black, Nashville-based entrepreneur in creative artistry; Tom Szaky, CEO of TerraCycle; Richard Thomas, co-founder of Bojangles and owner of R.
