Prep rankings: Lanier jumps in, Jefferson jumps up among four area teams in poll

Jefferson moved up, Lanier moved in and Buford and North Gwinnett maintained their spots in the latest Georgia Sports Writers Association Prep Football Poll, released on Wednesday.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, West Hall earned its first vote in the Class AAA poll.<br /> <br /> The Dragons (4-0) climbed to fourth in Class AAA after defeating Commerce 28-3 on Friday. Jefferson now has a week off before beginning Region 8-AAA play on Sept. 26 against cross-town rival Jackson County.<br /> <br /> Lanier (3-0, 2-0 Region 8-AAAAA) moved into the Class AAAAA rankings at 10th after defeating Flowery Branch 27-12 last week. The Longhorns will play host to Cedar Shoals (0-2, 0-1) on Friday.
