CLARKESVILLE - The Habersham County Board of Commissioners Tuesday set three public hearing dates ahead of a likely property tax increase for the upcoming fiscal year.
In a press release, commissioners said the proposal is to increase property taxes by 9.44 mills over the rollback millage rate.
At a meeting on June 17, the Board approved a budget of just over $22.5 million but did not set a millage rate, since commissioners did not have complete information on the tax digest. (See link to previous article below.)
As required by law, the Board must hold three public hearings before acting on a tax increase. The meetings are scheduled as follows:
