Softball: Allatoona hands No. 1 Buford first loss

ACWORTH -- Class AAA No. 1 Buford saw its 15-game winning streak comew to an end Saturday in a tough 2-1 loss to Class AAAAA fourth-ranked Allatoona.

The Lady Wolves (12-1) had chances to win the game leaving the bases loaded in the first and stranding two runners in scoring position in the fourth inning.

Still, the game was a scoreless tie until Allatoona pushed across a run in the bottom of the fourth on a triple to open the inning and a sacrifice fly. Buford tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth when Jazmin Hawkins was hit by a pitch to start the inning and would score on a two-out single by Noah Sudderth.

The Lady Buccaneers got the game-winner in the bottom of the sixth with two singles.

Bria Bush (8-1) went the distance for Buford surrendering just five hits and walking none while fanning four batters.

Remington Hasty, Hawkins, Bush, Drew Puckett, and Sudderth each had one hit for the Lady Wolves.

The Lady Wolves (12-1, 3-0 in Region 7-AAA) next will play host to Banks County on Tuesday in a region matchup.
