Voter turnout almost doubles from 2008; early runoff voting set

HALL COUNTY - The turnout of registered voters for the July 31 primary in Hall County was almost double the turnout from 2008.

According to Director of Elections for Hall County Charlotte Sosebee, 35.5 percent of registered voters turned out for the primary, compared to only 18 percent four years ago.

Five races exited the primaries in a runoff, which will be held Aug. 21.

All voters who were registered to vote in the primary can vote in the runoff, whether they voted in the primary or not. There will only be a Republican ballot. If a person chose a Nonpartisan or Republican ballot in the primary, they can vote in the runoff.

Up for grabs in the runoff is the 9th District Congressional seat, Hall County Probate Judge, Hall County Tax Commissioner, Hall County Commission Chairman and Hall County Sheriff.

Early voting for the Aug. 21 runoff will be held Aug. 8-17 at the Hall County Government Center during regular business hours. Absentee ballots will be available Aug. 10.
