Alto getting $500k for water line repairs

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA - Alto is one of three communities in Georgia that will share in nearly $3.5 million to upgrade their water infrastructure or study the feasibility of reservoirs.

Officials at the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority said the funding will go to the town of Alto, the Sinclair Water Authority and Paulding County.

Alto will receive a more than $500,000 loan to replace a leaking iron water main with more than 13,000 feet of new pipe.

Meanwhile, water officials in Sinclair will receive a loan to install a new raw water pump and drive at a pump station, increasing its reliability and energy efficiency.

Paulding County officials will receive a $2.8 million loan to conduct the necessary environmental engineering surveys and studies before deciding whether to pursue building the proposed Richland Creek Reservoir.
