GAINESVILLE - The two-day 2011 Fall Garden Expo wrapped up Saturday at Chicopee Woods Agricultural Center.
Self-billed as "the greatest two-day plant sale in Georgia," it featured nearly 35 vendors selling selling plants, garden art and garden products. This year there was a $2 admission fee but children were allowed in free.
There were free gardening workshops, presented by Master Gardeners; an "Ask a Master Gardener" information booth; and a chilldren's hands-on gardening experience booth.
Items for sale included annuals, perennials, daylilies, specialty trees and ornamental shrubs; hanging baskets, potted plants, herbs, ferns, hostas, hydrangeas, hellebores and more.
Also, locally produced honey, birding supplies and houses, cedar potting tables and garden benches, metal sculptures and garden art, water-garden design services, landscape design services, soil amendments, pruners and trimmers, gardening accessories, plus containers and flower pots.
The expo is sponsored each year by Hall County Master Gardeners and the Hall County University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Office.
