Fire damages west Gainesville home

GAINESVILLE - Fire damaged a house on Alice Street in Gainesville Tuesday night.

Firefighters got the call just after 11:00 and when they arrived found fire and smoke coming from the basement of the 1,000-square-foot structure.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said the fire may have started from a lawn mower in the basement, according to the person who reported the blaze.

Units from the Gainesville Fire Department also responded, off Browns Bridge Road, just outside the city limits, as part of a mutual aid agreement between the two departments.
