By staff
JEFFERSON -- The CRA Super Series will head south this weekend with the CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour back in action this Saturday in the Easy Racers 100 George Elliott Memorial at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson.

The event will be the third event in the CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour that has had two events to date beginning with SpeedFest 2011 at Lanier National Speedway in January were Chase Elliott got the win and The Rattler at South Alabama Speedway in March were Grant Enfinger went to victory lane. Gresham Motorsports Park, formally know as Peach State Speedway, went through a multi-million dollar renovation two years ago that made that facility one of the premier short tracks in the country.

Saturday's event has attracted a stellar field of late model competitors led by 15 year old Chase Elliott, son of NASCAR great Bill Elliott and grandson of George Elliott. The Dawsonville, Georgia teenager is currently second in CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour points with his victory at Lanier to Enfinger, but Enfinger is not entered for Saturday's event, he will be racing with the ARCA Racing Series where he is competing for that series Championship. Elliott comes into Saturday's event on a hot streak in late model competition after sweeping CRA events at Dixie Motor Speedway on August 19th with the CRA Super Series and at Winchester Speedway on August 20th with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. Elliott is a development driver for famed NASCAR owner Rick Hendrick and is competing full-time in the NASCAR K & N Pro Series.

Ross Kenseth, son of NASCAR Champion Matt Kenseth, is also entered. Kenseth has two CRA Super Series victories this season along with wins with the ASA Midwest Series. Ryan Blaney, son of NASCAR competitor Dave Blaney is also entered for Saturday race. Blaney is currently second in PASS South points with two wins and is fourth in CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour points, he was the 2010 CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour Champion.

Also entered is Georgia late model standout Bubba Pollard, who won his 50th late model event at South Alabama Speedway Saturday night claiming the 2011 Viper Series Championship. Pollard comes into Saturday's event third in Tour points and was the winner of the PASS South event at Gresham Motorsports Speedway in July. Alabama's top late model driver Augie Grill is also entered for Saturday's event. Grill swept both CRA Southern Six-Pack Tour events at Gresham Motorsports Park last season and is a two time Snowball Derby winner.

Other top late model competitors who are entered for Saturday's event includes Georgia natives T.J. Reaid, Dwayne Buggay, David Odell, Russell Fleeman, Alan Karnes and Greg Simpson. Also North Carolina drivers Jeff Fultz, Kenzie Ruston, Cale Gale, Jimmy Doyle, and Landon Cling competing for Brad Kesolowski Motorsports. Oklahoma hot shoe Donnie Wilson is entered along with South Carolina's Randy Gentry, Florida's Stephen Nasse, Ohio's Jimmy Weller and Iowa's Nate Caruth, who will be making his second start in a late model for Indiana based Muller Motorsports.
