JEFFERSON - A man instrumental in starting one of the volunteer fire departments in Jackson County has passed away.
Claude C. Pardue, 83, of Talmo died Saturday. A veteran of the Navy and an antique auctioneer, Pardue was the former chief of the North Jackson Fire Department in Jackson County, and played a key role in the establishment of the department.
Services for Pardue are scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m. at Little-Davenport funeral home in Gainsville.
