Arrest made in stabbing death of Gainesville man

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville police have arrested Lasheena Kinnana Cantrell in connection with a stabbing death at Ridgecrest Apartments early Monday morning.

Gainesville Police Lt. Carol Martin said Eveccio Ballard, 26, died after he was stabbed around 1:00 a.m. during an altercation involving three people.

Martin said the 22-year-old Cantrell has also been charged with battery involving a woman involved in the initial altercation. She is identified as Tasheen Collins.

Martin could not say what the motive was in the stabbing.

Ridgecrest is the same apartment complex where one person was arrested last week and charged with shooting into an apartment. No one was hurt in that incident.
