GAINESVILLE -- The Gainesville girls volleyball opened its Region 8-AAA schedule with a win of Chestatee and then beat Eastside Tuesday in a tri-match at home.
The Lady Elephants improved to 2-0 in region play after rallying to beat Chestatee 14-25, 25-17, 25-4 and then took a close 28-26, 25-23 over Eastside.
The Gainesville defense was solid behind Lauren Carter, who had 14 digs, and Grace Miller, who had 10 blocks.
Gainesville next will play host to Rabun County and North Forsyth Wednesday in a pair of non-region matches.
