Softball: Jackson County edges rival Jefferson

JEFFERSON -- The Jackson County softball team edged rival Jefferson 8-7 on Tuesday in Jefferson.

Haley Shinall picked up the win in the pitching circle for the Lady Panthers, while Savannah Snapp suffered the loss for the Lady Dragons.

Mason Garland and Alyssa Dasher each drove in two runs for Jackson County, which pulled ahead for good in the bottom of the fifth with three runs. Andrea Ledford, Shinall and Ashleigh Lance also had RBIs for the Lady Panthers.

Jordyn Whitfield and Lindsey Miles paced Jefferson (2-4, 0-1 Region 8-AA) at the plate, the duo driving in two runs apiece, while Meagan Faulkner and Ashley Boyd also had RBIs.

Jefferson will look to bounce back on Wednesday against Archer in the 2011 Hawk/Bulldog Invitational tournament in Hoschton.

Jackson County will also take part in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational, facing Peachtree Ridge on Wednesday.
