One injured in 985 wreck

OAKWOOD - A one-vehicle accident Sunday night shut down Interstate 985 between Spout Springs Road and Mundy Mill Road south of Gainesville for about an hour.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes were closed until the wreckage could be cleared.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed when a tire blew out and it overturned.

The driver was trapped in the wreckage and after he was freed was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries.

A spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff's Office says the the accident happened about 8:00 and that when he last checked, the driver was in stable condition.
