Level of Lanier lowest in nearly 2 years

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - The level of Lake Lanier has now slipped to its lowest point since it was recovering from a devastating drought nearly two years ago.

The level of the lake early Monday morning was 1066.85. Our records show that is the lowest since September 21, 2009.

The level of Lanier has been steadily declining since June 1, when it was about 2.5 feet higher than what it is now.

Full pool is 1071.
