Cumming native lands role on 'Law & Order: SVU'

NEW YORK - A Cumming native has landed a spot on NBC's long-running cop show "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."

Kelli Giddish starred last season in NBC's "Chase" as U.S. Marshal Annie Frost. That show was canceled after a season.

Giddish, a Forsyth Central High School graduate, will play a New York Police detective as the series enters its 13th season this fall.

Danny Pino also joins the cast. He starred for seven seasons on CBS' "Cold Case" as Detective Scotty Valens. NBC said Monday he'll step into the vacancy left by the recently departed Christopher Meloni, who played Detective Elliot Stabler.
