Hall offices closed Monday

GAINESVILLE - Hall County offices will be closed Monday for another furlough day.


However, the landfill and trash compactor sites are among the public works and public safety operations that will operate regular hours.


The furloughs, which have been used for a couple of years to help cut expenses because of the recession, are due to continue in the new fiscal year, which begins July 1, according to the revised budget proposal which was released by Hall County Friday. There are twelve of them included in the spending plan but unlike the original budget proposal, county employees would get to keep their nine paid holidays. (See earlier story.)


Many county services are always available online: residents can renew a vehicle tag or business license, find a new pet, pay taxes, and more at hallcounty.org.
