GAINESVILLE - Hall County firefighters led a man to safety through a smoke-filled North Hall mobile home early Wednesday.
Fire Chief David Kimbrell says firefighters were met in the driveway of the River Run Circle doublewide about 1:00 by a woman who said her boyfriend was still inside.
"Firefighters entered the home to search for the male and encountered smoky conditions," Kimbrell said. "The male was located in the rear bathroom of the home attempting to extinguish the fire."
Kimbrell said the man was escorted out of the home and firefighters extinguished the fire.
He said personnel then assisted the occupants with salvaging some of the items from their home and requested assistance for them from the Red Cross.
"Preliminary cause...is electrical in nature from a wire behind the bathroom vanity," Kimbrell add. "(There was) fire damage in the area of the vanity and light smoke damage throughout the home. Damage estimated at $2,000."
