Sky Express involved in 4 crashes in last 2 years

BOWLING GREEN, Va. - The operator of a bus that overturned and crashed on Interstate 95 in Virginia has been involved in several crashes over the last two years and was cited for 46 violations for fatigued driving.

According to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration records, Sky Express buses have been involved in four crashes, with one injury or fatality during the two-year period that ended May 20.

Drivers with Charlotte-based Sky Express have been cited for 17 unsafe-driving violations, including eight speeding violations since 2009. Records show the company was cited for 46 violations related to fatigued driving, including three that were classified as serious.

The records show the company uses 31 motor coaches and 53 drivers, as of May 20.
