Kick off for Badges for Baseball program

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Police Department Wednesday kicked off the Badges for Baseball Program at the Boys and Girls Club of Hall County.

"Badges for Baseball basically deals with mentorship and also teaches kids valuable foundations as far as teamwork, leadership and respect and mixes that in with baseball," said Gainesville police spokesman Joe Britte.

Some officers met with a number of youngsters at the club Wednesday to get the program going.

The Gainesville Police Department is one of only five law enforcement agencies in the state participating in the program this year. (See earlier story. Link below.)
