GSC site of 3rd annual Life Day

GAINESVILLE - The debate in Washington over continued funding for Planned Parenthood was on the mind of the founder of an annual pro-life rally at Gainesville State College as he prepared for this year's event Wednesday.

Joshua Edmonds of Lawrenceville started Life Day three years ago while he was a student at GSC. He is now a student at Georgia State University and hopes to expand the program to other college and university campuses around the state in the near future.

"So, as long as they (Planned Parenthood) are funded they are able to come onto campuses and into minority neighborhoods," Edmonds said, adding it is fostering an agenda which many taxpayers do not agree with, "(and) using student funding and taxpayer funding."

The Gainesville State College Life Day is a four-hour open discussion for faculty, students and guest speakers that began at 11:00 Wednesday.

This year's scheduled speakers included Bryan Kemper (president of Stand True Ministries), Catherine Davis (National Black Pro-Life Coalition), Christian Martin (Bound4Life Atlanta), and Edmonds (Senior Miister, Project:Ignite and Pro-Life Ministries.)

Edmonds said the event is designed each year to educate students in an open forum and in a question-and-answer session with the speakers.

"Since we started this event," he said, "we've seen attendance and media coverage grow each year."
