Tax Assessors appoint new chief appraiser

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Board of Tax Assessors has hired Gainesville native Steve Watson as the new Chief Appraiser. Watson begins work on Monday.

Watson has been in the business of assessment administration for more than 25 years, most recently as the Deputy Chief Appraiser for Gwinnett County since 2003. He also served as the Stephens County Chief Appraiser from 1992-2003.

He is a Certified Appraiser Level IV and a member of the Georgia Association of Assessing Officials and International Association of Assessing Officers. Watson is a Gainesville High School graduate and attended Gainesville State College.

"The community has a high expectation of us and we have a great responsibility, because we are stewards of the property tax system," Watson said. "I live in Gainesville and love this community. I am excited to come back to my roots and serve as Chief Appraiser for Hall County."

Watson replaces Mike Henderson who resigned in December. (See earlier story.)
